The SCAFP is the Palmetto state’s largest primary care specialty medical association, representing over 2,099 family physicians, residents and medical students. The mission of the South Carolina Academy of Family Physicians is to improve the health care of all South Carolinian’s through supporting and representing the specialty of family medicine.

2024 Summer Break Away & Annual Assembly

The Sonesta Resort on Hilton Head Island will be our location in 2024.  The Summer Break Away & Annual Assembly will include family physicians, residents, and other primary health care providers from SC and other states, and offer current information on diverse medical subjects and practice enhancement strategies. Earn CME while enjoying the fine dining, beach, and tons of local activities.

Family Physicians are feeling the strain of this pandemic, and it can be trying on our mental and physical health. Finding balance during these times can be difficult.  If you find yourself in a downward spiral, here are some resources that might help, including a free physician support line and free online therapy for health care workers.

NEW 2023 CME Activity

The purpose of this educational platform is to assist in allowing providers to remain current and
compliant in the ever-changing world of documentation, coding, and billing. There were
sweeping changes in office coding in 2021 and a similar overhaul will unfold for the hospital,
Emergency Department, and post-acute settings in January 2023. This platform will allow
access to help empower providers with knowledge to master these changes. The creator of the
content is a practicing family medicine physician with over 30 years in practice – 17 years of
which were in a blended ambulatory/inpatient medicine setting – who has been a Certified
Professional Coder (CPC) since 2000. The educational curriculum is focused on practical
applications of these concepts to align with the needs faced in primary care.



AAFP Videos Available: Improving Adult Immunization Rates

The videos are to assist members increase vaccination rates in their practice by providing evidence-based interventions for use with vaccine-hesitant patients.
